When AI voice cloning — Can it mimic any type of voice? From the variety of voices it can produce, deceptively unsure quality and more; current AI voice cloning technology outsmarts an average human in fooling — even making believe. Advances in this direction achieved by recent OpenAI GPT-4 and Google WaveNet have proven to produce voiceouts from AI, which is very similar or close as the way humans speak. In the case of OpenAI, they can copy voices with more than 95% accuracy after using just a few minutes of spoken phrases.
We even saw companies like Descript prove that an AI voice clone can imitate specific voices such as actors or celebrities. Overdub by Descript: This service was released in a beta version and allows to users create voice clones generated from any provided voice sample, which basically explains what the technology can do for replicating the nuance of our voices. To make a good enough replica, it usually takes 30 minutes of voice data collected in advance.
In the research space, there have been studies where some AI voice cloning can emulate few accents and speech styles very well. It was shown in a noteworthy study at MIT that detailed voice cloning can mimic many different accents and even emotional tone to it; however, the portion of training data may have an effect on the quality. AI voice cloning technologies are more advanced now, with variants like Lyrebird or Google Duplex simply requiring a few seconds of your speech to create forgeries that can then be used elsewhere. The most interesting one so far is actually an AI-driven model released by Casper last year called Capsure, which performs much better than the traditional tech thanks in large part due to its unsupervised architecture (data sets typically need less manipulation).
However, it has its limitations. E.g., very unique voices or a low amount of data, voice cloning with AI. It is harder to imitate voices that have unique vocal quirks or those with a wide emotional range. The developers try to reduce this limitation and improve the resonance of voice mimicking as new technology arises.
And the ai voice cloning abilities continue to improve — with new advances in technology allowing mimicking voices from a wide range of different people. To learn about more on ai voice cloning click pictured here or see it now.
